The book is part of a series of activities, from exhibitions to a biography, created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Brazilian architect Vilanova Artigas. The drawings that depict “Grandpa's free hand” were created from the rough sketches that Artigas made with his grandchildren. The authors of the book organized the images, created a narrative and invited Studio Kiwi to bring this idea to life. There are two versions of the book: one more traditional bound edition, and a second where the pages are loose inside a box, allowing the reader to recreate the narrative in a playful way.
